WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ETERNITY SAKE IN 2016?




So 2017 is just 10 days away!  How time flies!

When I wrote WHAT WILL YOU DO FOR ETERNITY SAKE IN 2016? (read it here: https://goo.gl/Epw68J) in January this year, I never knew it will rank as the most read post on this blog but as I am writing this, it is still top of the pile and is likely to bag the ‘award’ for the MOST READ POST on ETERNITY REMINDERS by end 2016. I am particularly thrilled that statistics showed that 70% of readers of that particular post were from overseas – which is a bit disappointing but confirming the fact that we don’t like reading in this part of the world – that is a topic for another day though.

As we round up 2016, it has become very important to do a critical self-appraisal of the ETERNAL VALUE of our actions and in-actions in the outgoing year. So back to the question, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ETERNITY SAKE? And I will start with myself.   

Against the background of the fact that I have testified that the last 2 years has been the most FULFILLING AND SATISFYING (https://goo.gl/8EOKfA), I should score myself nothing less than 80% to 90%. But I will shock you to say I will only score myself 30%, 35% at most! That is a bit harsh you might say. Well, I have always been hard on myself to the extent that even when doing office appraisals, it is on record that my supervisors often add to my self-rating by at least 20% or more score. However, I chose to give myself the above score due to 3 reasons I will enumerate below:

Against the background of one of the messages by my father in the Lord (I heard recently) titled HOW TO BECOME GREAT IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD, I feel like I have not even started to do anything for eternity sake and I am motivated, inspired and empowered more than ever before by the reward of greatness that awaits me in eternity and I encourage you to also be. It is very interesting to know that the only one award that is NOT UP FOR GRABS in eternity is the award for the LEAST GREATEST PERSON in eternity because John the Baptist has been declared the winner by the Lord Jesus Christ! - Matt.11:11. The implication of Jesus' declaration for every saint, therefore is that IT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO BE THE GREATEST in the Kingdom of God. I am greatly excited about the possibility that you and I can still outshine the saints that have gone ahead of us! WE CAN DO MORE THAN THEY HAVE DONE! And this is the number one reason I have given myself the above score. Hallelujah!

At a certain time, my company was invited to make 7 different presentations (on different days) to almost the same set of panel in an organization as part of process of being selected as the leading service provider in our area of competence. After we made the first two presentations, we came back and changed a lot of things while leaving our main message (USP). After the next two presentations, we came back again and freshen things up and so on and so forth until we finished the 7 presentations. The panelists were very impressed as they saw different presentations/approaches for all our presentations. They commended us for our creativity, innovation. And of course we got a sizeable amount of the job! The lesson in this narration is this: there is always a better way to do things because excellence, they say expires every 24 hours. We don’t have to do the same thing “as it was in the beginning, so shall it ever be”. No wonder Apostle says “I show unto you a more excellent way” – I Cor. 12:31. As people elected for eternity, we must ALWAYS remember that EXCELLENCE is one of the nature of our ETERNAL God and should therefore be a KEY core value for us ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIFE.  Ps. 8:9 says “Oh Lord our God, how excellent is your name”. This is my second reason.

My final reason is because of the words of Apostle Paul “He that thinks he stands should take heed lest he falls” - I Cor.10:12. Somebody might say bro, all is okay with you because you are doing this and that but because God doesn’t see or judge as man does, I must keep taking heed and keeping my feet on ground because of that “roaring lion”.  While Satan is perpetually under my feet, it is not yet hurray! The battle is not yet over until it is over and that is when I see him in glory! And like Jude also says “He that has this hope (of seeing Him in glory in eternity) must purify himself even as he is pure”- I John 3:3.  Every believer must keep relying on the grace not to “get carried away” in the euphoria of doing the business of the kingdom, “lest having preached unto others, I should be a cast away” – I Cor.9:27. May His grace keep being sufficient for us all in Jesus name. Amen.

Apostle Timothy Oluwole Obadare went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 at the ripe age of 83. According to reports, he had been confined indoors for some years, but was said to have struggled to attend the March edition of the Koseunti Prayer meeting on March 1, 2013. He was brought to the church premises but could not come down from the car. When the news of his death came in, it dawned on the members that perhaps their leader had wanted to attend the meeting for the last time.[47] Apostle Timothy Obadare is survived by his wife, Elizabeth E. A.
