As we approach the festive season, it is extremely important to remind ourselves that life is not all about us or our families alone.  We are blessed to be a blessing to others. It is therefore important that we incorporate the less privilege into our plans for the upcoming festive season. I gained new insight on the importance of forming the right habits after an experience with my lovely wife, which I would like to share with you. Some time ago, she told me that I had not said ‘I love you’ to her for some days. So when I got to my office the following day, I called my wife on phone and started the call by saying ‘I love you’ to her 14 times. Hmmn! What’s this all about, she asked. I told her my reason – I do not want to bother saying ‘I love you’ in the next two weeks, so I decided to say it in advance. You need to have heard the way she screamed in protest. It’s the same way you would react if I told you to take your bath 30 times today, so you will not bother doing so in the next 30 days … or to eat 90 meals today, so you would not need to eat for one month. It means I can hurt more than just the people in front of me every time I choose to not live like Jesus. But what I’ve come to discover is, many people don’t realize this cost. We still treat social media as if it is an exemption from being responsible for our words and actions. We need to get over the power that makes us feel we can say whatever we want on social media, and instead embrace the power to say what only builds up. When we are doing this, we can use social media as a tool for change—something that would honor the life of Jesus rather than shame it. By the special grace of God, I came across the gospel of Jesus Ch rist some years back. While confessing my sins on my knees in prayers, pleading for forgiveness with faith in the BLOOD of Jesus Christ, Jesus showed me mercy and saved my soul (I became born again). Hundreds of millions of people are running toward social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to participate in the relational components of the Internet. Are these networks the next big mission field or an enormous waste of time? Should a Christian participate in social networking? The answer to these questions should be determined by whether we can honestly ask God to bless and use our actions for His own good purposes. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” ( 1 Corinthians 10:31 ). If we are willing to let God use our participation for His glory, we have freedom to participate. What would you be willing to sacrifice for a season, so you could enjoy something far greater, forever? Jesus talks about a man who finds a treasure buried in a field. This man goes out and sells everything he has in order to raise funds to buy that field. He believes he has nothing that isn’t expendable toward gaining the precious treasure he has glimpsed. (See Matthew 13:44.) When God is glorified, that’s when the Kingdom Investor is energized. That’s how it is for the Kingdom Investor. He has caught a glimpse of a treasure nothing on earth can match—an eternal treasure. All that he has must be invested toward that treasure. Jesus also told stories about masters who gave their servants sums to invest. The workers were held accountable not for using their resources and not for preserving them, but for multiplying them.
