THE SAINTS OF OLD (NIGERIAN SERIES): PASTOR MRS ABIODUN KUMUYI (PART 2) - HOW SHE WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD

The late Mrs. Biodun Kumuyi, wife of the General Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, actually passed on last Saturday, singing a song of victory.

Three women leaders, Mrs. Folashade Dare, Mrs. Toyin Famakin and Mrs. Grace Sopeju, who were Mrs Kumuyi close aides recalled on Tuesday, her last moments, just as more religious leaders continued to pay her tributes.

The aides revealed that, the late Kumuyi, popularly called, Mama passed on to glory while singing and breathed her last with an Amen.

According to them, the act was a testimonial that she had gone to be with her Saviour. The lyrics of the song sang by Mrs Kumuyi were as follows:

“My name is written down in the book and it is mine.

Oh, yes it is mine.

With their white clothes, angels singing glory as sinner man come home.

My name is written down in glory, that is mine.

Oh, yes, it is mine.

With my sins forgiven, I am bound for heaven never to weep again".

The women also revealed that Mama was beautiful inside out, an epitome of righteousness, a real servant of God and a caring mother to all, whose vacuum no one could fill.

Meanwhile, religious leaders have continued to extol the virtues of the great woman, whose diligence to her Christian faith had affected many lives positively.

Prelate, Methodist Church, Most Rev. Sunday Ola Makinde observed that Mrs Kumuyi had served God faithfully and sincerely.

He stated during a condolence visit to the bereaved family at Ayobo, that there was no need for anyone to be sad. “You don’t need to brood over her life. We don’t need to cry because she died peacefully as a Christian. I am happy she died during Easter as a Christian. We should be rejoicing that she has gone back to our maker.”

He said Mama, had fought a good fight and had taken the crown of glory and righteousness.

Makinde further stated that the home calling of the virtuous woman should serve as a lesson to all.

He said: “One day, we shall also die. The question is, when we die, where are we going to spend eternity? Mama died and she knows where she is going. Ask yourself where do I go after here?”

Also Director, Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Very Rev. Msgr. Gabriel Osu, said the late Mrs. Biodun Kumuyi would be greatly missed by the entire body of Christ, the church.

He noted that during the deceased life’s time, she contributed immensely to the propagation of God’s kingdom through her role as coordinator of the Women Wing of the Ministry and as a publisher of the highly respected Women Mirror Publication.

For Pastor Enoch Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church of God, who was represented by Pastor Michael Ojo, the late Mrs Kumuyi was a woman worthy of honour.

He said, she lived a godly life and “we are sure that the hope of heaven is sure for her.”
Her interment

He said the lesson for everyone was that, nobody knew the day of his or her death, as such, all must be prepared at all times.

Representing, Pastor Daniel Olukoya of Mountain of Fire, Snr. Pastor Samson Olaoye, noted that Mama was a gem, a pacesetter, a wonderful woman of valour, of honour, who came as a colossus and played her part well.

Also Prophet Moses Kasali of Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry said it was an unavoidable incident but happy that Mama slept well in the Lord. While pastor Ewuola Samuel Alphonsus, Deputy General Overseer of Gospel Faith Mission said, it was a shocking news but that the Lord will heal all the broken hearted

THE SAINTS OF OLD SERIES - PROPHET DR. T.O. OBADARE (BIRTH, CALL & MINISTRY)

Introduction Ogo ni fun Olorun l’oke orun. Mo tun wi leekan si pe ogo ni fun Olorun l’oke orun. E jeki a gbadura (Glory be to God in heaven. And I say once again, glory be to God in heaven. Shall we pray?)[1] This slogan echoed over the Nigerian airwaves, especially in south-western Nigeria, for close to four decades. Each time it echoed, those who were familiar with it easily identified the voice of Apostle (Dr.) Timothy Oluwole Obadare, one of the indigenous prophets of the land, who was the General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) (Worldwide); the Executive Director of World Soul-Winning Evangelistic Ministry (WOSEM) and the President of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Association of Nigeria (IMA). Formerly of The Apostolic Church (TAC), he worked with the church for a period of four years, 1953 to 1957, before he was brought into the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) by Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola in 1957. Having joined the CAC, he ...

THE SAINTS OF OLD (NIGERIAN SERIES): PROPHET DR T. O. OBADARE - HOW HE WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD...

Apostle Timothy Oluwole Obadare went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 at the ripe age of 83. According to reports, he had been confined indoors for some years, but was said to have struggled to attend the March edition of the Koseunti Prayer meeting on March 1, 2013. He was brought to the church premises but could not come down from the car. When the news of his death came in, it dawned on the members that perhaps their leader had wanted to attend the meeting for the last time.[47] Apostle Timothy Obadare is survived by his wife, Elizabeth E. A. Obadare, six children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.      Governor Aregbesola being welcome to the burial ceremony by Mama Obadare & 2 sons Personal Qualities Many extolled the virtues of this great Apostle of Christ. Pastor Joseph Adegoroye, a former President of the CAC worldwide, while commenting on the establishment of the Koseunti monthy prayer meeting in 1985, said “Pr...

THE SAINTS OF OLD – PA S.G. ELTON (Part 1)

I have been trying (for over 3 months now) to do a research on the late Pa S.G. Elton, who is widely considered to be the father of Pentecostalism in Nigeria before featuring him on this platform. However, someone circulated this via What Sapp and I am using it as a platform to start a 3 part series on him. Enjoy the write up below. Your feedback and comments will be highly appreciated. Also feel free to send to  eternity.reminders@gmail.com  any useful article(s) in this regard.  Shalom! LOOKING BACKWARD: In order for us to understand the origin of the prosperity “gospel” and the present reign of mammon in the Church today, we cannot but talk about the man who almost single-handedly established the Pentecostal movement that led to the Pentecostal Churches of Nigeria today. Before then all we had were mostly the “orthodox” Churches with strong controls and hierarchy of the ministers. We did not have the “one-man” Churches of today. ALSO READ JO...
