“The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” (Psalm 68:11).
With the advent of Internet, especially the Social Medial and mobile application software for handheld devices, the Word of GOD is spreading at such a fast rate and reaching far flung places across every inhabited parts of the world.
This is evident that the gospel, GOD’s good news, His Word, is being preached in “all the world” just as Master Jesus commissioned all believers to do and reach “every creature” in Mark 16:15-18 (NKJV):
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18 (NKJV).
This positive development and clear evidence that the Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour is at hand should make every genuine believer to rejoice and intensify their “watching and praying” as Jesus instructs us “for you do not know when the time is.” (Mark 13:33).
While, as I noted earlier that this is a welcome development, I believe we should also further maximize the uses we put the Social Media, particularly apps like What’sApp to, which has made getting GOD’s Word into people’s handheld devices in a snap.
For example, it is a common thing amongst believers to encourage one another by searching the Scripture and sending GOD’s Word that promises blessings to His children to their fellow brethren. Usually, when such Word that blesses us comes our way, we do not hesitate to say “Amen” either quietly or audibly. And this is a great thing to do.
However, there is a richer benefit that some of us are failing to take maximum advantage of. For instance, if a brethren sent us a message that read, “I decree that the Lord will bless you the way He blessed Solomon with both riches and honour (see 1 Kings 3:4-14 NKJV), and you rightly affirmed “Amen!” with great enthusiasm, you should not just stop there.
You should seize the opportunity to search the Scripture and see what the Word of GOD says about prosperity and being prosperous especially as it pertains to Solomon. And then see if you are doing those things that Solomon did. Why? Because the prayer sent to you, which you received with gladness, depends on GOD answering it. And the Bible already tells us: "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." (1 John 5:14-15 NKJV).
If our Father tells us that answering our prayers depend on “asking anything according to His will” and His will is His word, then it is reasonable to expect that to have kingdom prosperity depends on aligning ourselves with His Word and doing the Word. And when we do that, GOD confirms our “Amen” and we have a testimony for our answered prayers.
Solomon, in addition to loving the Lord and walking in the statutes of his father David, offered a sacrifice of a “thousand burnt offerings” to GOD and that apparently pleased GOD to the point He asked him that now famous question: “Ask! What shall I give you?” (1 Kings 3:5 NKJV). And we know what followed.
While you don’t necessarily have to try to break Solomon’s record, you can offer your own sacrifice at your own level that proves to your Father Who sees your heart and knows your motive whether your sacrifice was made as a result of your genuine love for Him or you are just doing it to get something from Him.
Here is another example. A believing brother or sister prays for you and declare that you shall have a peaceful weekend. Of course, you should say a resounding “Amen” to that. Who doesn’t want to have a peaceful weekend?
But do you know Bible’s recommendation for having peace, whether during the week or at weekend? Turn to 1 Peter 3:10-12 (NKJV) that says:
10 For “He who would love life and see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
That is the will of GOD for everyone that desires peace and all the other godly virtues contained in that passage. If you walk in the light of the Word in that passage, Our Father will see to it that you dwell in peace. He takes delight in answering our prayers instantly and not in storing them. He cannot deny Himself and He will never withhold any good thing from His children. He is a loving Father.
Let us take one more example. I pray for you that is reading this message that you shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord in Jesus Name. (Psalm 118:17 NKJV). You should enthusiastically say “Amen” to that. Now, hear what the Word of GOD recommends that everyone who desires life should do in Psalm 34:12-19 (NKJV):
12 Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
For every promise of GOD, which we believers rightly turn to prayer, there is always a part for us to play for its actualization. Always search for those parts, that is our own responsibility to do and commit yourself to doing it with the help of the Holy Spirit. And Our Father, Who is always ready to perform His Word (Jeremiah 1:12), will not disappoint you.
Remember, however, that until you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you are not qualified to receive GOD’s blessing. You will only depend on crumbs from the table like the Canaan woman we read her encounter with Jesus in Matthew 15:21-28.
Instead of having to beg for what will rightly be yours if you accept Jesus Christ today, why not just take that step of faith and have your sins forgiven?
