How Do We Prepare Our Children for Eternity?

It is a statement of fact that series of preparation has been done by a vast majority of parents/guardian in preparation for another academic session. Much more important, however is the preparation of our children for eternity. The following article culled from WOMEN CHRISTIAN MAGAZINE, August 2015 is highly recommended in this regard. Blessed are the doers of the word…

Life often has been described as a journey.  And it’s indeed an endless journey that begins here on earth and continues for ever. That means everyone born into this world has an immoral soul – not capable of dying; living forever.  Although death is the terminal end of all humans on earth, the human life actually doesn’t terminate then; it continues hereafter forever.  In other words, we will all outlive this planet.  We will spend eternity in one of two places though – heaven or hell.  The question is, where will you spend your eternity? Have you ever pondered on that? You need to accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, if you want to have a blissful eternity in heaven; otherwise you will end up in hell fire.

Now as a Christian parent, have you given a deep thought to where your children will spend eternity?  You have probably listen to many sermons on eternity, but have you taken deliberate steps to prepare your children for eternity in heaven? Or are you caught up in rat race, neglecting your sacred responsibility of grooming your children for life? You need to awake to the reality of life after death.  Heaven and hell are no myths. The bible tells us that heaven is the abode of God, and the righteous and holy people will dwell with God forever.  It is a blissful place, a place of rest from all earthly toils, but sinners and backsliders won’t get there (John 14:1-4; Rev.21:1-27). Hell, on the other hand, is a place of everlasting punishment where sinners – those who don’t have their names in the Book of Life – will suffer torments forever. It was planned originally for the devil and his angels (Mtt.25:41), but God has decreed that those who forget Him and reject Christ will also be cast there because of their sins and neglect of His salvation (Ps.9:17,, Mt.5:22,30, 25:46, Mk.9:43-47, Luke 12:4-5, 16:19-31, Rev.14:10, 11, 20:12-15).

And don’t be naïve about God’s judgment. Contrary to some erroneous beliefs, only born-again and sanctified Christians will spend eternity in heaven, not religious or “good, moral” people.  All people who sin against God, young children, adults, “small and great (will) stand before God” in judgment and be punished for their sins in the lake of fire (Ecc.11:9, Rev.20:12).

So, be wise! Prepare your children for a blissful eternity by leading them to salvation and raising them in the way of the Lord.  Guide them to live by the word of God. Train your adolescents to manage peer pressure and lead a life of holiness, obedience, responsibility and service to God. Make them live with eternity in view through your instructions and godly example. When you groom them properly, they will grow up to be responsible children adults and lead godly lives (Prov.22:6). And whether they die young – God forbid they die prematurely – or in ripe old age, they will live in heaven with your forever.

Please feel free to share your comments on other ways believers can prepare their children for eternity.

THE SAINTS OF OLD SERIES - PROPHET DR. T.O. OBADARE (BIRTH, CALL & MINISTRY)

Introduction Ogo ni fun Olorun l’oke orun. Mo tun wi leekan si pe ogo ni fun Olorun l’oke orun. E jeki a gbadura (Glory be to God in heaven. And I say once again, glory be to God in heaven. Shall we pray?)[1] This slogan echoed over the Nigerian airwaves, especially in south-western Nigeria, for close to four decades. Each time it echoed, those who were familiar with it easily identified the voice of Apostle (Dr.) Timothy Oluwole Obadare, one of the indigenous prophets of the land, who was the General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) (Worldwide); the Executive Director of World Soul-Winning Evangelistic Ministry (WOSEM) and the President of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Association of Nigeria (IMA). Formerly of The Apostolic Church (TAC), he worked with the church for a period of four years, 1953 to 1957, before he was brought into the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) by Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola in 1957. Having joined the CAC, he ...

THE SAINTS OF OLD (NIGERIAN SERIES): PROPHET DR T. O. OBADARE - HOW HE WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD...

Apostle Timothy Oluwole Obadare went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 at the ripe age of 83. According to reports, he had been confined indoors for some years, but was said to have struggled to attend the March edition of the Koseunti Prayer meeting on March 1, 2013. He was brought to the church premises but could not come down from the car. When the news of his death came in, it dawned on the members that perhaps their leader had wanted to attend the meeting for the last time.[47] Apostle Timothy Obadare is survived by his wife, Elizabeth E. A. THE SAINTS OF OLD – PA S.G. ELTON (Part 1)

I have been trying (for over 3 months now) to do a research on the late Pa S.G. Elton, who is widely considered to be the father of Pentecostalism in Nigeria before featuring him on this platform. However, someone circulated this via What Sapp and I am using it as a platform to start a 3 part series on him. Enjoy the write up below. Your feedback and comments will be highly appreciated. Also feel free to send to  eternity.reminders@gmail.com  any useful article(s) in this regard.  Shalom! LOOKING BACKWARD: In order for us to understand the origin of the prosperity “gospel” and the present reign of mammon in the Church today, we cannot but talk about the man who almost single-handedly established the Pentecostal movement that led to the Pentecostal Churches of Nigeria today. Before then all we had were mostly the “orthodox” Churches with strong controls and hierarchy of the ministers. We did not have the “one-man” Churches of today. ALSO READ JO...
