MY ROMANCE WITH PORNOGRAPHY AND HOW GOD DELIVERED ME

“Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious:
but I obtained mercy...”

(1 Tim. 1:13)

My romance with pornography started in my teen years in secondary school (talking of the early 90s) and it came principally through magazines such as Hints, Dauda the Sexy Guy and the likes of such magazines.  I kept these items secretly and often go to lonely places to read them and fantasize on a daily basis. This got worst when I gained admission to Ogun State Poly (Now Moshood Abiola Poly) in the mid-90s. It was the first time I got to have a girlfriend and started practicalizing all that I have been watching and reading. This continued when I graduated and started working (doing IT). As a matter of fact, I impregnated (my girlfriend) and had to persuade her to … (you know what I mean) as I was not yet ready for any responsibility.


Shortly after my IT, I got admission to Yabatech in the summer of 1998 but could not take up the offer due to lack of finance. I had to take up the option of continuing with work and doing a part-time arrangement for my HND. Thankfully, by divine arrangement, I was privileged to get employment in a church working directly with a man of God. While I had not come to ‘know’ the Lord, the intensity reduced.  I also parted company with my girlfriend totally after I came to ‘know’ the Lord a few years later (read my salvation experience here:). I also did away with all the pornography items in my possession.  Then came the era of exposure to internet, to which I became tempted again on frequent basis and often had to ask for forgiveness times without number, only to go back again. 



However, my total deliverance came 3 years ago when I went for a leadership programme in Daystar. I became more aware of who I was in Christ and the struggle ceased. Halleluiah! And I discovered that the more I get closer to reading, hearing/watching videos related to the Word, the more I developed the inner strength to resist these things ANYTIME I STUMBLED UPON THEM ANYWHERE. I can now say like Paul the Apostle said “It is no longer I who lived but Christ that liveth in me, and the life I now lived, I live by faith in the son of God who LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME” (Gal. 2:20). Indeed the word of God is life and spirit. 

I MUST STATE HERE THAT THE EXPOSURE TO THE INTERNET REMAINS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THOSE STILL BATTLING WITH THIS MALICE because even when you don’t go there (Porn sites), they will come to you in one way or the other. You have to deliberately purpose in your heart like Daniel not to defile yourself by clicking and watching the ‘show’. A Yoruba proverb adage says “it is what a bird eats that it flies with”. You have to be determined that you will only EAT and WATCH on the internet what will help you not what will DESTROY you (John 10:10).

SO I WILL SAY BEING BORN-AGAIN IS NOT ENOUGH, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KILL PORNOGRAPHY. When we get born again, we become a new creature but the process of growth is still there and the responsibility is on each believer to ‘travail’ until Christ is formed in you (Gal.4:19) and each person come to the fullness of the stature of Christ (Eph.4:12).

The reason Apostle Paul wrote in Col.3:5 “Mortify therefore your members which are on the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry” is because it our primary responsibility to kill lust but it is unfortunate that most believers shift this responsibility to either God or their pastor.

Further buttressing this point, my mummy GO also gave a testimony of how several years after being born again, she was battling with the spirit of anger and fighting, she went to her pastor to pray for her but got a shocking reply “Go deliver and pray for yourself first, then come I will pray with you”. She took ownership and responsibility and the rest like they say is history as she was TOTALLY DELIVERED and SET FREE.

While I got born again 15 years ago (read my salvation experience here:https://goo.gl/Ka1hju, I was still battling with pornography though not in high intensity as before. My deliverance was slow but progressive principally because I was not ready to yield completely to the Lord. However, I thank the Lord for the last 3 years. I have been totally delivered and set free from this wicked spirit. Knowing and applying the knowledge of the truth has SET ME FREE (John 8:32).

Acts 13:9 says “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”.  This has been my testimony.  All I want to do again and again is be in His presence as much as I will be privileged to be. 


ARE YOU STILL OUT THERE BATTLING WITH PORNOGRAPHY? The God that set me free is ready to do the same for you today. Just come to Him the way you are and let Him see in you the strong desire to kill the flesh. He will help you today. I AGREE WITH YOU TODAY IS THE DAY OF YOUR DELIVERANCE because it is written in Is.10:27 “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”.  You are FREE today because John 8:36 also says “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed”.CONGRATULATIONS!!! 


I see many People out there who shall be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and be TOTALLY DELIVERED. They shall be made saints and shall then become a MIGHTY INSTRUMENTS IN THE HAND OF THE LORD to draw many into the kingdom of His Dear Son.
