WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND?

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends… No longer do I call you servants…but I have called you friends… “
John 15:13-15.

There is a popular saying which says “show me your friend and I will tell you the type of person you are”. This is because friends are very powerful and influential in our lives. Some influence us positively while others influence us negatively.  You are therefore a product of whosoever friend (negative or positive) you allow to influence your life.  No wonder a Yoruba proverb also says a sheep that walks with a dog shall definitely eat feaces.   It is an understatement to say that if your best friend is a successful and responsible person, that is the person you are likely to be.  Likewise if your best friend is a smoker, a robber, prostitute, etc.  The question for you to answer today is who is your best friend?  This is a very important question that must be treated with all seriousness because this will play a great role in your success or otherwise as you go in 2016.

Proverbs 13:20 says “He that walketh with the wise shall be wise but companion (friend) of fools shall be destroyed”.  It is sad to know that the companions (the best friends) of many people are not wise people but fools. You must endeavour to discontinue your friendship with fools and walk at all times with people of wisdom and understanding, among whom are your pastors and godly elderly people. You can hardly go wrong when you chose to walk with these people because of the amount of wisdom and understanding of major life issues God has deposited in them.  As a matter of fact, they must be your first consultants in all issues of your life.  It is sad to know that reverse is the case with many people of God.  They do a lot of things without letting the man of God over their lives know.  You must make amend today.

Amos 3:3 says “Can two walk together (as friends) except they agree? The best friend of many people is not in agreement in the spirit with them, though facially they pretend to be.  Man breakthrough and blessings have been lost just because you shared the intending breakthrough and blessing with a supposed best friend your spirit does not agree with. Instead of agreeing with you for the blessing and breakthrough, he or she is busy contending with it in the realm of the spirit and invoking the spirit of impossibility. Similarly, there are friends who don’t share the same godly principles, life style or values with you.  They are your best friend, but all they keep telling you is to do contrary to what God wants instead of building you up in the word of truth.. When God wants you to go to Sokoto, they are advising you to go to Ibadan. When God says you must not take this route to success, for them that is their guaranteed route for you to take. May God opened our eyes and help to quickly discard friends like this.

Some people you call your friends today are only your friend because of what they want to get from you (because of the position you are), not because of what they want to add to you.  Life is a give and take affair! You should therefore be on the look out for and avoid a friend that is always out to get from you all time.  It is very likely that such a friend will disappear from your life if (God forbid) you find yourself in one form of difficulties or the other. Sometimes we don’t know our best friends until we are in one form of difficulties or the other.  No wonder Bible says in Proverbs 18:24 “There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother…” These are friends that will stay with you through the tick and tin.

At this junction, It has become imperative for you to write down the names of everyone you call your friend and let God show you the ones you must discontinue friendship with from this hour.  And if you are in wrong friendship, it is never too late to retrace your steps and quickly disengage yourself from evil and ungodly friendship. 


But good news I have for you today is that there is a friend that loves you more than all your friends, from the foundation of the world. He wishes to be your BEST FRIEND from this hour because He has laid down his life for you and He has gone to prepare a place for you so that where he is, you too will be there. His name is JESUS. He loves you no matter who you are.  He doesn’t love you because of who you are. He is the only true friend that can never fail you.  What more?  He knows the heart of every man and can make sure you don’t get into wrong friendships.  IF YOU ARE YET TO MAKE HIM YOUR BEST FRIEND, you need to REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND DO SO TODAY. Please pray this prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you today, I am a sinner. I believe you died for me that I might have ETERNAL LIFE. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with your blood.  I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a blessed child of God.  Thank you for saving me. If you have prayed this prayer sincerely, you are born again.   CONGRATULATIONS! J

Apostle Timothy Oluwole Obadare went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 at the ripe age of 83. According to reports, he had been confined indoors for some years, but was said to have struggled to attend the March edition of the Koseunti Prayer meeting on March 1, 2013. He was brought to the church premises but could not come down from the car.
